We had a great family vacation the second week in January. The resort is beautiful and the service was excellent. Every member of the staff was always so friendly and helpful. We loved the beach and Alfredo the lifeguard. The rooms were big and comfortable. We were able to eat at all three restaurants and they were delicious. The wait staff in all of the restaurants and buffets went above and beyond to take care of you. I can't say enough good things about this resort and all the measures they took to sanitize and clean constantly. The staff are all very hardworking and take pride in what they do. We will definitely be back soon!

We had a fantastic time over the holidays at Occidental Cozumel! It was relaxing and the food was delicious. My kids had a great time with the activities director. We loved Jesus and Pedro! They had many fun things planned for families to do. It was a fun filled vacation!

Went with my wife and a couple of friends. Most everything was awesome! Service was great and very friendly. Pools and beach were well kept. Food was all very delicious, especially including the restaurants that you need reservations for. However, I would recommend creating reservations shortly after arrival so they don't fill up. Rooms were on the smaller side but very nice. However, hot water was scarce. In order to get a warm shower you need to shower in off hours. Early morning and mid-late afternoon are prime shower times and you will not get warm water.

We visited Cozumel for the first time and decided to stay at Occidental based on the price and location. The resort is at the south end, which generally is more quite and with nicer beach. My first impression with the property is that the place is sparkling clean, from the hallway, general areas, dining areas, and the pool. Our room was service everyday and the crew did a fantastic job at cleaning. We felt very safe with the sanitary procedures here. I would consider this resort as a boutique resort, since it's smaller than the ones we've stayed at before in Cancun and Riviera Maya coast. The 2 pools are small, and the beach area is quite small, with only about 30-40 chairs max. The staffs are super nice and friendly. My only complaint is the lack of variety on daily food options; we got bored of the food after 2 days. The specialty restaurants were not great either. The drinks were good compared to other all inclusive resorts; the bartenders try to be creative with their drinks. There were not really any activities to do at night time. Overall, if you enjoy quietness and a beautiful beach, this is the resort for you. If you want more food options and more festivities , there are other options

This was my first time to Cozumel, and this resort exceed my expectations. All staff, from housekeeping to servers to bartenders to groundskeepers were friendly and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms were spacious and had a walkout balcony amongst the canopy of trees. The beach and pools were a short walk away. Very relaxing. When we wanted a bit more activity, we’d head to the activity pool area where we met Millie, who made our stay extra memorable and FUN. She gave us the opportunities to play beach & pool volleyball, trivia, and at night bingo, dj/dancing, name that tune. After 1 day she knew us all by name and had great recommendations for transport around the island, excursions, shopping areas downtown, restaurants, etc. She is so warm and friendly and I can’t wait to return!!

Resort foi fantástico. Eles seguiram protocolos cobiçosos melhor do que a maioria dos estabelecimentos canadenses. Todos os funcionários usavam máscaras de maneira adequada, higienizavam-se frequentemente, mantinham distâncias. Tivemos um serviço incrível em cada refeição e ficamos encantados com 2 funcionários especiais Mili e Jesus! Eles realmente fizeram nossa viagem com sua gentileza e risos. 10/10 para o resort e altamente recomendado se você está procurando aproveitar as vantagens do mergulho / snorkel, pois eles têm a loja de mergulho anexada ao resort a preços razoáveis. Estará de volta!

Resort was fantastic. They followed covid protocols better than most Canadian establishments. All employees wore masks properly, sanitized frequently, kept distances. We had incredible service at every meal and were delighted by 2 special employees Mili & Jesus! They truly made our trip with their kindness and laughter. 10/10 for the resort and highly recommend if you’re looking to take advantage of the diving / snorkelling as they have the dive shop attached to the resort at reasonable prices. Will be back again!

I was originally unsure about this vacation due to covid but I felt very at ease with all the precautions taken by the resort. Masks were worn & everything was constantly cleanedThe room was clean, spacious & the bed was comfortable.Unfortunately, the room service dishes from all the rooms were piled next to the ice machine & the coatimundis used that as an easy meal. Our room was next to the ice machine so we had the same coatimundi outside our door so many times that we named him.The food was good but I agree with others that the food at the buffet was usually on the cold side.Every staff member was friendly & helpful but a couple stood out to me. Mili was in charge of activities & that seems like a challenging job but her personality is perfect for getting people to participate. I am one of those who rarely participate in activities but she got me involved & it was a blast. I speak next to zero Spanish & her English was very good so I went to her whenever I had questions & she was always helpful.She knew the names of many guests & every member of our group. This isgreat quality & makes you feel so welcomed. The other person that is memorable to me is Cristly. I never had to wait for anything when she was our server. She was so attentive that she would ask if we wanted things that we had previously asked for. This is a great quality & it is so impressive when you think about how many people she see's every day & how the guests are constantly changing.There were a lot of nice things at the resort but it was the employees that make me want to come back to this resort

Nos hospedamos 3 noches, en cuanto al hotel muy bonito, estilo colonial bien cuidado y se nota q le dan mantenimiento constantemente, el servicio del persona y la limpieza en las instalaciones excelente, las habitaciones muy bonitas, la cena a la carta excelente nada q ver con el buffet deberían de ser como en otros hoteles cenas todos los días q te hospedas, eso le daría un plus a tu estancia, el mar y la vista excelente.Lo malo es q la playa ya no está como se ve en las fotos ya q debido al huracán se quedó casi sin playa de hecho algunas de las palmeras ya estan cayendo, la comida en el buffet es mala, no hay variedad y es repetitiva de hecho en las 3 noches solo tuve una cena a la carta y lo demás desayuno comida y cena son buffet.De ahí en fuera me agrado mucho las instalaciones, el servicio y el mar.

Para ser de la cadena Barcelo hubo muchos inconvenientes. En el bar y restaurantes no había lo que venia en sus cartas. En cuanto al servicio excelente.

Came here for thanksgiving week and have had a very pleasant experience with the hotel. They are doing all they can to limit contact. The food options are more limited with Covid, however they are doing what they can to stay open. Jesus and the rest of the employees all made sure we enjoyed our stay.

The Occidental is my hotel of choice in Cozumel. My family looks forward to going there every year. Among the many things that make the Occidental such a wonderful place- the staff is most important. We consider Jesus a member of our extended family! We only hope that COVID will soon be a thing of the past and we can once again travel to this magical place.

I love this place! Rooms are always great, food is good, and the staff is always extremely helpful and friendly! Especially 9 months into the pandemic, every person that I interacted with on my trip was sincerely grateful that we were there. The layout of the facility is pretty much perfect, considering you are in the middle of the jungle on a tropical island in the Caribbean! If you scuba dive, the dive shop and boat launch are RIGHT THERE, then very short trips to multiple dive spots on the Palancar Reef. If you are just there for sun and fun, the bartenders will make you almost any drink you can think of. Two pools, one by the ocean and private for adults only. Pretty great!

Occidental Cozumel was a great experience for my family. Our 4-year had a blast and there were plenty of activities to keep him occupied. Milly was the best. She made the trip so much more fun than I had anticipated.

Occidental is my home away from home! Having vacationed here many times I can say that this location provides fabulous service. The entire staff is amazing, providing whatever we need and with a smile. It is a smaller resort, which makes it more intimate and charming. I will continue to vacation there every year.
